One of the first things you need to do to attract readers and get search engines to notice you (SEO), and to pick up on the higher paying advertising links in Google Adsense or whatever advertising service you use, is figure out how to use meta tags and keywords.
Basically, and we will touch on this more in detail later, meta tags and keywords is a series of words describing the content of your website/page. When someone searches in a search engine for something, the search engines scan all the keywords and meta tags and find sites based on the meta content.
Assuming you use a good selection of keywords, and make sure to use words that are relevant to your content, the search engines should bump your site up in the rankings.
The first step is to figure out how to describe the content of your site in a series of one word descriptions. Make the list and then add the whole list to the meta tags and keywords.
1. Login to your Blogger.com account.
2. Click on ‘Layout’ and select ‘Edit HTML’ tab.
3. Search for the following code:
4. Now place the following code just below
< (take this out) meta content='DESCRIPTION HERE' name='description'/>
<(take this out) meta content='KEYWORDS HERE' name='keywords'/>
<(take this out) meta content='AUTHOR NAME HERE' name='author'/>
Now just change ext in red with your own text. ‘Keywords’ meta tag can have any number of keywords.
And, by the way, when you are adding a bunch of keywords, separate each keyword by a comma. Your keywords line in the meta tags should look something like this:
<(take this out) meta content='blogger,blogspot,widgets,links,google,adsense,seo,ad,advertising,revenue' name='keywords'/>
